Chiropractic and Bedwetting

A number of recent studies demonstrate the advantages of chiropractic care for kids struggling with "Nocturnal Enuresis", more commonly referred to as bedwetting. Several studies released in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics showed marked improvement in kids with this particular issue over children who didn't receive chiropractic care.

In one study, 171 children struggling with bedwetting averaged 7 nights of wetting the bed each week prior to the study. Once the children received some initial chiropractic care, the average child reduced the amount of "wet" nights to 4 nights per week. A full 25% of the children receiving chiropractic showed a 50% decrease in wet nights. In addition, only 1% of the children had been regarded as "dry" prior to the study and just before receiving chiropractic care. Following the study, 15% of the children ended up being then considered "dry".

In another study, 46 children were analyzed. Of this group, 31 had been placed under chiropractic care while 15 were in the control group and didn't have any chiropractic care. The results of the study showed a 17.9% decrease in wet nights for the chiropractic group. Within the same time period, no change was recognized for the control group who did not have any chiropractic care.

Amazingly, improvement in some of the studies was shown to be immediate after the first adjustment and remain stable thereafter.
